The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved Delhi Metro's Phase IV project comprising of three priority corridors.

The total length of operational metro projects in India presently stands at about 440 km and is growing. Cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Gurugram, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Lucknow and the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) where they are already operational, are simultaneously adding on to their existing route networks.

Mangu Singh, Managing Director, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) indicates that challenges around land acquisition have slowed down the ongoing extension of metro rail network. Therefore, if the need arises again, the metro rail operator in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) will not be averse to negotiating directly with private landowners.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the four laning of Pandoh Bypass to Takoli' section of National Highway (NH)-21 in Himachal Pradesh. This is a sub project of the National Highways Authority of India’s larger project for four laning of NH-21 from Kiratpur in Punjab to Manali in Himachal Pradesh.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has awarded two contracts worth Rs.3,918 crore in Karnataka under NHDP. The projects on NH 63 include ´four-laning of Hubli-Hospet section at Rs.2,293 crore to BSCPL-KNR (JV) and four-six laning of Hospet-Bellary-Karnataka/AP border Section for Rs.1,625 crore to Gammon India Ltd,´ the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said.

Infrastructure firm Dilip Buildcon has said that it has bagged a Rs.2,016 crore road project in Uttar Pradesh. ´The National Highways Authority of India has declared the company as the selected bidder for four-laning of Lucknow-Sultanpur section of NH-56 from 11.50 km to 134.70 km in the state of Uttar Pradesh under NHDP Phase IV on a hybrid annuity basis at a project cost of Rs.2,016 crore,´

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved four-laning of the Aurangabad-Yedeshi section of National Highway-211 in Maharashtra. The road work will be taken up under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase IV on Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT-Annuity) in Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) pattern.
